Activity # 2
Compare and Contrast Your Habitat With Someone Else's
Using the interactive venn diagram tool at ReadWriteThink.Org, compare and contrast your habitat with someone else's habitat. You may choose to work collaboratively on this via Skype or FaceTime. You might also choose to use the information that someone else has posted to complete the activity within your own class. For a video tutorial on how to use the ReadWriteThink.Org venn diagram tool check out our How To page.
Activity #3 - Culminating Activity
Habitat Pen Pals
You will choose a living thing from your habitat (plant or animal). You will write a friendly letter from the perspective of your living thing to someone in another habitat. You want to be sure to tell everything you can about your habitat.
Some things you might consider talking about are:
Don't forget to sign the letter with the name of your living thing!
You may use a word processing program or application to type your letters. You may also write them by hand and upload a copy to your computer. Submit your letters to the participants section so that they may be posted for others to see. Your project might even be chosen to be displayed in the Project Showcase!
Some things you might consider talking about are:
- What habitat you live in.
- What the climate is like (weather)
- Who some of your neighbors are (other plants and animals)
- Something specific to your habitat that you probably wouldn't find anywhere else
- What you eat or need to grow.
- What adaptations do you have that help you to survive in your habitat.
